Randy and Gwendolyn Ashcraft have been missionaries since they were married in 1997. Randy is a third-generation missionary with lots of experience and is fluent in three languages. God has led them to work in different people groups and they are enjoying the journey in which God has placed them. Randy and Gwendolyn are currently living in Southeast Asia and make trips into Central Asia when possible.
Join them on their journey as they help those in far away places. Please pray for wisdom and the spreading of peace through faith in Christ Jesus.
Randy was born in Ft. Worth, TX, on March 31, 1972. When he was just a month old, his parents took him to Mexico as they were missionaries there. In fact, Randy's grandparents were missionaries, also. At the age of 5, Randy accepted Christ as his Saviour and was baptized soon after. He preached his first sermon at the age of 9 and translated for various pastors from the age of 12. He was very involved in all of the ministries going on in Mexico, but it was not until the age of 21 that the Lord called him into full-time service. Randy moved to the United States and enrolled in Louisiana Baptist Seminary where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Theology in 1997.
Gwendolyn was born in Richmond, VA on June 2, 1975. She was blessed to grow up in a Christian home and attend a Christian school. She accepted Christ as her Saviour as a young child and was baptized a few years later. She began taking piano lessons and wanted to use her talent to play for the Lord. Gwendolyn always wanted to be a pastor's wife or missionary's wife when she grew up because of the influence several had had in her life. In the 10th grade after hearing a missionary speak in chapel, she surrendered her life to full-time service. She went to Bob Jones University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1997.
In the summer of 1994, Gwendolyn's church went on a missions trip to Mexico. During that short 4-day trip, Randy and Gwendolyn met. It was also during that time she realized that Randy's father, Lanny Ashcraft, was the missionary who had spoken in her chapel service when she surrendered to full-time service. On June 14, 1997, Randy and Gwendolyn were married and began raising support to go to Mexico as missionaries. In July of 1998, Joshua Baptist Church in Joshua, TX, officially sent them out and they headed off to Mexico.
Immediately upon arriving in Mexico, they planted Jesus Saves Baptist Church in Camargo, Chihuahua. A short time afterward, Randy took over as Director of La Fe Boys Home - a home with as many as 30 young boys at a time. Randy and Gwendolyn started La Fe Christian Academy, and later planted a second church - Calvary Baptist Church - in Parral, Chihuahua. In 2004, Randy became the pastor of La Fe Baptist Church in Jimenez, Chihuahua. Gwendolyn taught a teenage girls' Sunday School class and the ladies' Sunday School class at different times. She was also the church pianist. During their 12 years in Mexico, Randy and Gwendolyn had five children - Lee, Cynthia, Andrew, Caleb, and William.
In April of 2010, the Ashcrafts answered the call to move from Mexico to Southeast Asia. They arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 15, 2010, and began their new ministry there. Randy began language school and partnered with a local church in reaching the Buddhist people in that region. He is now fluent in three languages. From 2013 until 2018, Randy ran a Community Development Center that focused on an outreach to the Muslim population. Randy is also partnering with Bangjak Baptist Church in ministering to the persecuted Christians of Pakistan living in Bangkok, Thailand. In January 2020, he made his first trip into the country of Pakistan and began partnering with Christians in that country.
